IPSERIA AROMA SCULPTURE
fungus mycelium, glass, polyurethane, gelatine, pigments, aroma diffusor, ipseria scent, 70 x 100 x 50 cm
aroma sculpture, detail
As part of the mixed reality installation “ipseria“ the aroma sculpture, grown from fungus mycelium, releases a fragrance throughout the exhibition space. Developed with perfumer Andreas Wilhelm and in collaboration with slime molds, the scent combines human and non-human mucus. Fragrance molecules entering the recipient’s body is the most powerful way to make kin with ipseria. They evoke an ambivalent mood, shifting between comfort and uneasiness. Smell is the unique sense that enables incomparable evocation of memory and immersion with a specific environment.
